Study of the VNS option in NOMAD solver
My internship consists in a research project that aims to develop new AI algorithms for deciding whether or not the VNS option in NOMAD solver should be activated in order to find global optima in black-box optimization problems. There are three different steps on this project. The first one consists in studying the practical behavior of the VNS option over a large set of problems. The second step aims to develop a machine learning methodology to automatised the decision to activate or not the VNS option. Then, this tool could be extended in order to automatically detect the presence of several local optima in a black-box optimization problem.
